About Us

History: In 2003, Strauss & Watychowicz, P.C. was founded by Kenneth S. Strauss and Mark J. Watychowicz with a focus on providing excellent service with reasonable fees.  Since then, several thousand real estate closings have been completed successfully.  Thousands more court cases have been presented by the partners and their associates before chancery, housing and forcible (eviction) courts in all Chicagoland counties.

In 2008, Kenneth Strauss joined a downtown law firm and as a result, Strauss & Watychowicz, P.C. took on a new identity as
the Law Office of Mark J. Watychowicz, P.C.

In 2009, we are pleased to announce that James M. Hamill, Jr. has joined our team as an attorney.

Our Firm prides itself on meeting your legal needs in real estate, estate planning, and beyond.  Our niche in the market is that we tackle just about all legal aspects of real estate.  While we handle basic residential transactions on a daily basis, we also handle commercial closings, short sales, bank negotiations, landlord/tenant issues, municipal property matters, foreclosures and foreclosure defense, evictions, housing court, post-closing matters, and title insurance review and claims.  A natural link to these practice areas was to be able to assist clients in their estate planning and corporate matters, which we also do.  Having this detailed background enables us to not only gain business from the traditional sources (word-of-mouth, Realtors, lenders), but also other attorneys who confine their practice to residential closings only and are looking for an experienced referral.  While our home office is in Mount Prospect, our practice takes us from Northern Lake County to Rockford to DeKalb to the Southern Suburbs.

Mark J. Watychowicz

Mark received his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Benedictine University and his law degree from The John Marshall Law School.  Through previous work experience, Mark gained an extensive background in estate planning, business corporate law, real estate transactions, title insurance and foreclosure procedures.  Mark has represented international companies, assisted clients with effective corporate estate planning, and has been involved in thousands of real estate transactions. Additionally, Mark speaks conversational Polish.  Mark is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Real Estate Lawyer's Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

James M. Hamill
